game over, run, phone, random

March 1st, 2010 by ahlex

Argh, I’m suffering Olympic-withdrawal. I was at work, and I was so tempted to visit the 2010 site to see what events were happening today, but before I do, remember, the games are OVER. :(

So instead, I’ll try to keep my mind off the games.

So I’m training to participate in Vancouver’s Sun Run. Wow, that girl is way too happy looking on that site. Lol.

Anyway, I’m doing it with my work, which is pretty neat, I’ve never run 10k before, but I do enjoy running. So the training thing we are doing makes us run 3 times a week. Today’s run was 5 min warm up, followed by 6*(2min walk, 3min run), then 5 min cool down.

After the run, I went into the washroom and changed back in the stall. About 10min later, I realize I left my phone in that stall.

So I run back to the washroom, and some guy was right after me. I was heading for the stall, but there was a guy in the stall that I was in earlier. So crap. I stood by the sink, waiting.

The guy who came in right after me, ended up doing his business, washed his hands, gave me a weird look and then left.

Then the guy in the stall finally comes out.

I go to the stall, but my phone isn’t there, so I awkwardly ask the guy if he has seen a phone in the stall while he’s washing his hands.

He answers back saying no, but then points to the counter top “is that your phone?”

And it was my phone. The whole time, it was sitting on the sink counter. I didn’t move it there…

So I grabbed it and cleansed it with an antibacterial wipe.

Notice how I described this in single sentences?

My head hurts and this is all the thought I can muster. :(

o canada!

If you talked to me 1 month ago about the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, I would be going on how I didn’t want to see the world to come. I was kinda annoyed how a whole load of taxpayer’s money will be going into these games, how congested the roads would be, as well as, public transit, and what a shame that I have to work during my school’s “Olympic Break.”

But things have changed. I never really followed the Olympics before, but I guess because they are so close to home, I have gained more interest in them. And especially since Canada has finally won GOLD on home soil (Yay Alex Bilodeau!) and 8 other medals to date, I’ve gained the Olympic fever.

I’ve gone downtown to see all the Olympic hype 4 times now, which has been amazing. I’ve witnessed the sea of red and white floating around and how much pride we have in our athletes while cheering them on in the games.

I am definitely proud to be a Canadian. I’m happy Vancouver hosted these Olympics; it’s definitely a once in a lifetime experience!

Damn tires

February 20th, 2010 by ahlex

I experienced my first flat tire 2 days ago. What a horrific experience.

So I get off work, go to my car, turn it on and start driving, but hear this grinding noise….. I didn’t realize it was me, but I looked for another parking spot to park and see what the hell was going on. My passenger side front tire was flat… and because I moved my car, it was all effed up.

So I call my dad since I’ve never changed a tire before.  While I wait for him, I get honked by a random lady because she wanted the parking spot that I was standing in and a guy that decided to change his t-shirt in front of me………. (I don’t think he realized I was there.)

My dad comes, brings this can that I’m suppose to inject into my tire to patch up the holes temporarily. It didn’t work because my tire is effed up.

So we try to take my tire off and put the spare on, but since my car was used, the bolts weren’t all the same size…. so the tool that came with the car, doesn’t fit all of the bolts………..

So we drive home in my dad’s car to get the thing we had that had different sizes….

Go back to my work to check out my tire…. got the tire off to find out that my freaking spare tire isn’t for my car! My wheels has 4 bolts, but the spare has 5, so it doesn’t line up! Who the hell supplies a spare that isn’t for that car!!! ARGH!

So my dad tries to go fill my tire with air…. but it doesn’t work because there’s a big gash in it…

So we venture to the auto store to buy a new tire, hoping that they are still open… we finally buy a tire, get them to put the tire on the rim and venture back to my work to put it on my car.

Smooth sailing from there, but 5pm-8pm is 3hrs of a tire fiasco… So frustrating. Still kinda annoyed.

4hr change

I just got back from work and my feet are killing me.

I got to work at a different golden arches today. My restaurant got bought out by someone who owns several, so this one needed a someone and I didn’t want to work with killer-whale, so I ended up going there to work.

It was like the twilight zone. Everything was different, but the same. They definitely have a lot more room, but I think it works to a disadvantage. More room = more walking distance = waste of time. At mine, I could just turn around and put the bag there, but at this other place, I would have to take at least 3 steps to do the same minor task. =/

I could go on about the differences of the workplaces, but I won’t. Only other fellow workers/managers would understand. Lol.
